Designed for those who are 11 years of age or older, these courses will teach you how to create a babysitting business, interview families, employ safety on-the-job, change a diaper, and deal with
emergencies such as choking, bleeding, and cardiac arrest.
The Babysitting
courses are offered by two certifying companies. Both equally as good. The first is the American Red Cross. The other is the American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI). Here, at Blue Spectrum
Solutions, we can meet your expectations by customizing the courses to include additional first aid and CPR training. We can come to you or find a site that works best for your group. We practice all
safety guidelines by local, state, and federal authorities to ensure all manikins and supplies are either brand new or are sanitized to prevent the transmission of any virus or disease. We practice
social distancing and wear masks when appropriate to ensure a safe environment for everyone.
The CABS program
from ASHI gives teenagers and young adults everything they need to know for safe and successful babysitting. From getting started with their business, to dealing with parents and children, to key
safety, caregiving, and first aid tips, the magazine-format CABS guide and vlogger-style video make learning fun. The CABS course seems to get the most
positive feedback from the babysitter students.
The Red Cross
offers two online babysitter certification classes: Babysitting Basics, and Advanced Child Care. These courses are delivered entirely online and are designed to help you better care for the infants
and children in your charge. These courses allow you to train at your own pace making it easy to become comfortable with the material in each section before moving on to the next.
All of our
babysitting classes culminate with certification exams that allow you to prove your skills. Upon successful completion of the class – and the exam – you'll receive a certificate that you can print
and show to potential employers, access online or via a QR code, which you can embed in your resume. All certificates are valid for two years.
In Colorado,
babysitter certification from the Red Cross is valid for two years. In order to maintain your credentials, certificate holders can enroll in one of our abbreviated recertification courses, which
allows you to receive the latest information, update your skills, and renew your certification for an additional two years.
Whether you
babysit all the time or provide care infrequently, it's important to keep your wide range of skills fresh and ready for anything. To that end, we've created a variety of refresher materials,
including quizzes, games, activities and videos that you can use to remember all the information you learned during your Red Cross babysitter training.
The American Red
Cross offers babysitting training in Colorado and across the country. Developed under the guidance of, and reviewed by, the Red Cross Scientific Advisory Council, the Red Cross babysitting courses
deliver the latest information and techniques to help you become a capable and confident babysitter. In addition, with three levels of courses available, it is easy to grow your skills and earn the
certification you need to build your business.
Red Cross
training provides those ages 11 and older with a comprehensive education in babysitting and child care best practices. However, it's important to note that none of the babysitting classes offered by
Blue Spectrum Solutions, through the American Red Cross or the American Safety & Health Institute, are intended for state-licensed child care providers, as the courses do not meet all of the
state requirements for such certification.
